Drama Free Relationships
Escaping the Drama Triangle
Break the rules you were handed. Stop rescuing everyone, stop feeling like the victim, and take back your time, your energy and your freedom. For bold women over 40 who are done people-pleasing.
Sound familiar?
You solve everyone else's problems
You feel overwhelmed because your own stuff never gets done. Then you get angry, because nobody ever helps you.
And round it goes. Your mom, your sister, your partner, the neighbor, that one coworker. Different people, same exhausting pattern.
- You've spent years being the "good girl" who keeps the peace, even when it costs you.
- You're living by rules you never agreed to: be nice, don't make a fuss, put everyone else first.
- You've tried to change it, but the same old drama keeps coming back.
- Part of you is itching to say no, stop rescuing, and finally feel free. You just can't see how.
It isn't you being too sensitive. It's a pattern with a name, and once you can see it, you can break it. That's where the transformation starts, and it's more possible than you think.
What's really going on
Meet the drama triangle
In 1968, psychiatrist Stephen Karpman described three roles we all play. The trap is that they keep shifting, and nobody gets what they actually need.
The Victim
"Poor me, nobody helps me, I can't fix this."
The Rescuer
"I have to fix this for you," even when nobody asked.
The Persecutor
"This is all your fault."
My story
I spent 40 years at the center of that triangle
Christmas in my family meant my mom doing everything for weeks, getting more and more worn out, and me walking on eggshells trying to help without ever being told how. When my dad suggested Christmas at a hotel in Florida, suddenly I was the bad guy for agreeing with him.
When I finally saw the pattern, it was a real breakthrough. I stopped rushing in to rescue. I learned to say no, and to be OK when someone decided that made me the bad guy.
Now I visit family when I want to. The drama doesn't stick to me anymore. That's the freedom I want for you.
